Mumbai - Annual Meet - 23 May 2009

Dear XLers,

The preparations for the Alumni Meet 2009 are underway. We have finalized tentatively the date and venue as follows:
Date: 23rd May, 2009
Venue: Mayfair Banquets, Worli
Time: 7:00pm onwards

At this stage, we are facing severe issues as regards sponsorship is concerned.

This being a period of recession, there are very few avenues to raise sponsorship and we have not received favourable responses from any of the avenues we have explored so far. After 3 weeks of efforts towards raising funds for the meet, we realize that this year is going to be a tougher nut to crack than we had earlier expected.

We request you to lend us your support towards this end, and help us in giving you the best Alumni Meet yet.

We seek your direction and support in this regard. Please feel free to contact any one of us for any queries / suggestions etc.
Thanks and Regards,
Gayathri Krishnan

Praying for safety of Xlers in Mumbai

Terrible news on the terror attacks in Mumbai. Most of it was centered around the Colaba area where a lot of XLers have their offices.

A lot of our alumni were working late in office, some live in the area and some were catching up with friends in the nearby joints, eateries and restaurants. We pray for the safety of those who were in the area.

Words are useless in situations like this. All we can do is hope and pray for now.

Dean Joe Philip visiting Mumbai : Meetup

Hi Folks!
I am delighted to inform you that Prof. Joe Philip will be in Mumbai on 26 - 27 November 2007. As many of you know, he was our Dean in the 1970's, and he is currently President, X I M E (Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship), Bangalore.
Prof. Philip would very much like to meet you, especially if you are from one of the early batches. He also intends to call on some of the major recruiters in Mumbai - it would be great if you can help set up some of the appointments. Can you suggest any company where you can use your good offices and do the needful?
A dinner meeting is being organized in South Mumbai on Monday, 26 November. The details will be communicated as soon as they are finalized. Please do contact me if it will be convenient for you to join us.
Look forward to meeting you!

Prof Fenn in Bombay on 5th eve.

From: Dr. Mathai Baker Fenn

Hi,

I am in Bombay Aug 3-5 for a program I am doing. http://www.training.thetalkshop.in. If you are available in Bombay,
lets meet up on 5th Evening? If you are available please send an email to mohit kishore with your name, and mobile number?

There have been two suggestions, one is to make it a "Learning Evening" where I can share with you some of my current interests as we used to do in the class. The second is to make it more informal, meet up, maybe a drink, maybe dinner. Either way we need to organize things a bit. I am fine with either. Please send an email to Mohit along with your preference and details.

Mathai

PS. If you have read my blogs you will know I am in Armenia at the moment and am coming in only on 3rd from Armenia to Bombay.

Feel free to email me, but remember to update the list with MOHIT!

Mumbai Meet

The evening of May 19th at Mayfair Rooms in Mumbai, had all the ingredients of a superb bash - XL Style! But more important than all, was the huge, vibrant XL crowd, which ensured that the evening was lively - way after all the timing limitations :)

We, the batch of 2008, wish to thank each and every member of our very own alumni network, who flew down, cancelled appointments, encouraged us, cheered for the band, had a blast of a time, gave us a glimpse of XL of their days and made us feel very much a part of this huge family.

We also extend our sincere thanks to the following sponsors without whom this meet wouldn't have been successful:

Hindustan Lever Limited
Pepsi
Seagrams
Mercer Human Resource Consulting
Tech Mahindra
Tata AIG Life Insurance
Tata AIG General Insurance
AIG

We at External Linkages, the Media Cell of XLRI, take on the responsibility of building the brand of XLRI through various activities and nurturing our strong alumni network is one of our prime responsibilities. As such, we would be very interested in knowing the grievances / suggestions for improvement from all of you who graced the occasion, and we would also welcome any suggestions about how we can improve publicity for XLRI, especially in Mumbai.

Lastly, we would also like to thank the following enterprising souls who made this alumni meet a grand success:

Team External Linkages:
Jesal Doshi, Krishna Chaitanya B, Divya Gawri, Harsh Gupta, Prian S.

Alumni Meet Co-ordinators:
Krishna Chaitanya, Gauravi Dubey, Tushar Kataria, Shivkumar Rohira, Shashank Avadhani, Bharat Rao.

Thanking you all once again

Regards,
Jesal Doshi
