Hyderabad - Alumni Meet 2009

Hello,

Now that I'm back in Hyderabad (joining Deloitte Consulting), I feel nostalgic about the great time I had during summer internship last year. It was fun organizing the alumni meet under the able leadership of Prof Shukla and the constant guidance from Harinarayana S., Kumara Guru, Ranjeev Lahkar, Neti Srinivasan, S. Nandkumar, Kaushik Mitter, Siddhish Sriganesh, SV Nathan and all the XL seniors at Deloitte.

Its that time of the year again. We have summer interns of the 2010 batch in Hyderabad, it gives me great pleasure to introduce the organizing committee of Hyd Alumni Meet 2009 : Suvid Anand (who is also the Placecomm Secy),Archana Rao, Debayan Biswas, Siddharth Chatterjee and Hariharan R.

We had a meeting yesterday and hope to successfully organize the meet on 23rd May at Taj Krishna.

We would be grateful if you could help out with suggestions, tips, sponsorships, good deals for venue, etc so that we can plan out a enjoyable evening for all.

Organizations that sponsor the XLRI Alumni Meet get high impact visibility in front of Hyderabad's elite and can choose to sponsor the meet in the following ways:

1. Rs. 20000: Mention in all email communication to alumni and mention in media ads of the alumni meet.

2. Rs. 30000: All of the above & 1 Banner (dimensions 6 X 3) placed at venue. Pamphlets in all the gift packs.

3. Rs. 50000: All of the above & one extra Banner (dimensions 6 X 3) placed at venue. Access to the database collected at Venue.

4. Rs. 1 Lakh: All of the above & stalls can be put up by company for showcasing their products. Literature and Samples/Gifts can be distributed. Exclusive rights to the alumni meet.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Regards

Hyd XL Alumni meet - report and pics

It was a great meet with more than 60-70 XLers across batches and programs turning up and total number of people easily edging past 100.

Awesome arrangement by the summer trainees and the venue at Taj Banjara was perfect for those interested in keeping their spirits up, shaking a leg, catching up with friends or in making new ones :-)

Tonnes of thanks to the summer interns Harbir and co. for putting together a stupendous show. And of course to our lead sponsor Indu Projects, and co-sponsors Seagrams, Pepsi, SABMiller, Dell, Deloitte, Microsoft.

Have clicked some snaps which can be seen on Flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/gautam/sets/72157604989853270/

5 snaps are also on facebook http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=13407050479

People on XLers Unlimited community can check the pictures here http://xlrialumni.ning.com/photo

Prof. Madhukar Shukla who came down for the meet has also clicked some pics and am sure he'll be uploading them as soon as he gets to campus tonight :-)

Entirely agree with GG and Hari!
it was a great evening - very enjoyable, and very efficiently rolled out!!
Harbir, Neeharika, Siddhartha, Ajay, Satya (and all others, behind the scene, I may not be aware of)
As Hari mentioned/ implied... you guys have created benchmarks for which your juniors may - actually, will - curse you ;0)...
thanks on behalf of all of us... (and behalf of all those of us who refused to leave till 1:30am - so much to catch up, grax, reminiscence and conspire... and we kept you people - the gracious hosts - up at the venue ;0) - thanks and apologies ;)
Thanks to all who came and made the event a great success..., and to all who helped the team to organise the meet...
...and, of course, to the sponsors (I am not mentioning them by name again since GG's post has already done that, and it will look pretty artificial and redundant to repeat the same)... but must mention our own Xlers who helped us to get these sponsorships... and so guys, let's also thank
- Kumara Guru (05 GMP - ISB), who put us in touch with Indu Projects, and actully worked to get them to be the principal sponsors
- Ranjeev Lahkar (00PMIR), and Srinivasivas Prasad "Sugga" (97PMIR) , who I believe/ suspect - not sure ;0) - had some major role to play in the sponsorship from Microsoft ;0)
- SV Nathan (83PMIR) from Deloitte, who as usual supported (though we missed his company, as he was travelling)
- Anil Chilla (00BM) whose first sponsorship from Dell, did wonders to the tempo/morale of the team, who were organising the event
...and of course for the "liquid/spiritual" stuff, (and to get us the pan-India sponsorship for the alumni meets) thanks to:
- Bikram Basu (94PMIR) - yes, please "PMIR" ;) - Marketing Controller, Seagram
- Shantanu Das (96PMIR) Head Organisational Effectiveness, SAB-Miller
- Pavan Bhatia (90PMIR) and Vikas Joshi (99PMIR) for Pepsi/Frito-Lay...
Folks!
being trigger-happy with my camera, I have taken about 80+ pics... and have uploaded them (Entirely Unedited;0) at:
(as slide show)

Hyderabad meet initial invite

Dear All,

Greetings from your alma mater, our very own XLRI. As you might be aware, every year, XLRI Alumni Chapters across the country organize Alumni meets, to celebrate the same 'XL Spirit' that glues us all together. As part of the same, we are having our annual alumni dinner as per the details given below:

Date: 10 May 2008

Time: 7:00 p.m. onwards
Venue: Taj Krishna

In addition to our entire alumni base from across batches, who along with their families reside in Hyderabad, the meet will also be attended by the professors from XLRI and students of 2008 and 2009 batch of XLRI. This is a great opportunity for building your brand on campus too, as a large number of students from the current batch will attend the meet.

We would be very privileged to have your company as a sponsor for the event. Every year, the meet is attended by the who's who of the business world from across industries. Your products/services will have the audience of the Sec A++ category consumer, who has the eyes and ears to many other consumer classes. These consumers, being key corporate decision makers would be a prime target market for your products/services.

We have various Sponsorship Schemes:

Payment can be made by a crossed cheque payable to 'XLRI Jamshedpur'. Your company may also sponsor the event "in kind" wherein your products would be offered as part of the kit that will be provided to all or as prizes to be given away during the event. You can discuss about the same with us.

We look forward to partnering with you to make this event a grand success.

Hoping for a positive response,

Yours sincerely,

The Hyderabad Alumni Meet Team

We have all experienced 'XL' at different times…Yet the bond we share transcends generations…Come let's all relive those moments 'XL' style once again…

On behalf of the entire XL Community we invite you for an evening filled with fun and nostalgia on 26th May, 7 p.m onwards at the Taj, Banjara (Anjuman Hall).

XLRI Spreads Wings to Hyderabad

Jamshedpur, May 3 (The Telegraph): Come June 2009, and an XLRI campus would come up in Hyderabad.

Officials of the B-school said they had recently completed the necessary formalities for acquiring 30 acres of land at Alwal near Hyderabad.

The construction work of the new campus is expected to begin by the end of this month and the second campus is expected to start functioning in June 2009. The new campus would be adjacent to the Loyola College in Hyderabad.

XLRI, Hyderabad, is being set up as part of the B-school’s expansion programme. The XLRI here has no scope for expansion due to land constraints.

The Jamshedpur campus is spread across 35 acres.

The dean (academics) of XLRI, P. Venugopal, said the B-school had two options — either to increase the intake at the Jamshedpur campus or develop another. After a lot of analysis, he said, it was decided to start a new one.

The B-school authorities wanted to set up the campus in a major metro. As finding faculty would be a major concern in smaller cities, the business school authorities debated between Delhi and Hyderabad. But the southern city won as Delhi has several management colleges.

Venugopal said talks are also on with the government of Andhra Pradesh to get more land for developing additional facilities.

Apart from the flagship courses in business management and personnel management, the new campus would offer management development programmes (MDP), added Venugopal.

The MDP division at XLRI was established in 1969 to contribute more effectively to the professional development of Indian managers and administrators. Now, the division offers more than 90 MDPs every year.

As Hyderabad is well connected with other parts of the country, said XLRI officials, MBA aspirants wouldn’t find it difficult to pursue management courses from this campus. The city’s air-connectivity would also prove to be a major advantage for the B-school’s new campus.
